Privacy

Cratey has no accounts and collects as little as it can. Here is everything it keeps, and why.

What we store

• Your crates: the name you give each one, the songs in it (titles, artists, artwork links) and any notes you write on them. Crates are public to anyone with their share link.
• Notes to the owner: if you send one, we keep the message, the name you gave (if any), which record it was about and that random ID. Only the crate's owner can read or delete it.
• Hearts: when someone loves a record in a crate, we count it, linked to a random ID their browser makes up, so each person counts once. Only the crate's owner sees the count.
• Usage steps: when someone visits, adds a first song, saves, shares, opens a crate or a gift, or starts checkout, we note that step with the same random ID, the crate's link ID and the site or link tag that brought them. No names or emails. It tells us where people get stuck, and only Cratey's team sees it.
• A secret edit key for each crate. We only keep a scrambled copy of it, so we can check it but can't read it.
• If you pay: the email you entered at checkout and the payment reference, so we can unlock and restore your crates.

What stays on your device

Your browser keeps your crates' edit keys, your theme and sound settings, your payment reference and that random ID, so Cratey can open where you left off. Clearing your browser's data removes them. Keep your edit link if you want to edit a crate from somewhere else.

Who else is involved

• Paystack takes payments. We never see or store your card details.
• Supabase stores crates and payment records for us.
• Vercel hosts Cratey and counts page views without cookies or personal profiles.
• Vercel also tells us which country a visit comes from, worked out from the connection. We use it to show the right price and what's popular in your country, and don't store it.
• Apple's iTunes search supplies songs and previews. Your searches go through our server, not straight from your browser.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking cookies.

Your choices

To delete a crate or the email linked to a payment, email hello@cratey.xyz with the crate's link or your payment reference, and we'll remove it.
